Just Connections Service Leader
I began my career in Graphic design, and then became self employed running a food/catering business in Ayr. I decided on a career change in 2000, I returned to further education and studied for a degree in Psychology. This opened doors into employment in the third sector, where I was initially employed as a support worker for an organisation in south Ayrshire.
I was concerned that many of the individuals I supported had additional substance misuse issues, and decided this was an area I would like to be involved in. I worked for the next 7 years in Mental Health and Addictions, which was extremely rewarding, as well as challenging. Lack of funding lead to the closure of this service, and I was then able to successfully interview for my current position with Partners.
All the experience and skills I have gained to date have now been added to and complemented by the organisational ethos and structure. This is a unique and forward thinking company that empowers the individual with a holistic person centred approach to support.
On a personal side: I enjoy family time, long walks with the dogs, running, music and collecting vinyl records.
